Engineer wood floors

This type of flooring comes in very handy where the nail down applications is not possible, typically over concrete slabs.

Budget wise they are about the same as the solid hardwoods,(sometime the labor will be more money in the glue down scenario), but they have the advantage of being more stable than the solid woods, therefore allowing us to install them below grade(usually basements).

They come in a variety of colors, widths, thickness, and some of them imitate successfully the solid floors.

Typically there are 3 installations systems that come with the engineer flooring:

1. Click system
2. Tongue and grove (glued together system)
3. Glue down

The first two will be a floating installation (the floor “floats” in top of the concrete slab) and the third one will be glue directly onto the concrete slab (or glue in top of an underlay, which also will be glue to the subfloor).

The upside for the floating will be in terms of the budget ( less expensive than the glue down ) and also will give you a flatter look to your floors.

The downside will be that if the subfloors has small imperfections (the big ones needs to be fixed prior of installation, always follow the manufactures recommendations prior the installation) you might feel “soft spots” in your wood floor.

For those who want a more stable feel and also a more stable floor the glue down will be a good option to be considered.

Engineer Glue Downs

An engineer floor can usually be glue-down (following the wood floor manufacturer guidelines). This will give you the feeling of a more stable floor.

Our company us using high quality glues which will give you the peace-of-mind that your investment in hardwood flowing will last longer for the years to come.

Testimonial

Very pleasant. He came, provided quote, agreed on the price and timeline. He came on time to start and finished as promised. Showed us how it would be, communicated very well and did not have any problem. He had the house key but let us know every time when he was coming or going, etc. He finished but he said that he will come and fix some of the places, which we did not noticed. He came and fixed it after we paid him full! We definitely will work with him again in the new house.
